Have you been bored lately? Are you feeling down? Do you want to break out of the greyness of days?

 

Here Are 7 Ways to Find Joy Every Day

 

  1. Act as a tourist in your own city
    Oftentimes we don’t value the things we have around us or activities we can do anytime.
    Have you ever lived in a city and planned to discover it for yourself, e.g. go sightseeing, visit museums, take day trips in the area? But then you’ve never done it because it was always available for you.
    The moment you moved out, you regretted not having done all those things though. These might seem little but since our brain doesn’t like open loops, it will think about again and again how to go back and have the desired experience.
    So go on sightseeing tours in your town, start wandering around and get lost just to discover something you have never noticed before. Go on a bicycle tour or hike in the region to recognize how beautiful it is.
    If you think it’s too much, just choose another route to get home from work.
    Our brain seeks novelty, let’s give it to it.

 

  1. Think of one activity that you loved doing as a child.
    Was it maybe drawing on the asphalt, building sandcastles, playing board games, running freely in the fields or climbing trees? Pick one of them and do it. Dare to be a child again, it liberates your soul.

 

  1. When you really, really feel down and can’t think of anything positive, just play your favorite music.
    There is no way you stay in that rabbit hole after listening to 2-3 songs.
    Pro tip: Start singing & dancing around in the house. 😉

 

  1. Create your own rituals
    It could be the simplest thing on earth like drinking a coffee or tea at a certain time, reading 5 pages of a book before starting your day, taking a short walk after lunch or work, lighting some candles and journaling before going to bed. The only thing that matters it should be something that gives you a break, something that you value and that enriches your day. Something you are looking forward to doing.

    Slow down, close your eyes, take a deep breath and when you open your eyes again, go with this certainty that everything you see is yours: the birds are chirping for you, the beautiful flowers are blooming to cheer you up, the trees provide you with oxygen and shade.
    Nature represents abundance. If we take a breath, there is still enough for everyone. All we see serve us.

 

  1. Connect with loved ones
    Call a friend or a family member, spend some time with them even if it’s virtually, send someone a quote or an “I’ve just thought of you” message to brighten their day.
    Cheer somebody else up and you feel better right away.

 

  1. Be grateful
    List at least 10 things what you are grateful for that money can’t buy. Do it after waking up or right before going to bed. When your heart is filled with gratitude, you start noticing more and more things that bring you joy. Because those moments will matter when we leave this life. It might make you happy to get a great job, buy a new car or land that huge deal but these can fade as we achieve more and more. Six months into it, the job is just another job, the car doesn’t smell so new anymore and we’re already working on the next deal. But I bet you will always remember the laughter when sledding with family & friends, remember the taste of that cake you baked with your grandma together, remember that evening when you walked down to the beach after a stressful day, sat down and dug your feet in the sand.
    It’s the little things in life.

 

Live every day so, that you don’t regret not doing even the simplest thing that brings you joy out of thinking there will be still time for it.
